Bacteria, common in your pet’s mouth can actually travel to his heart, liver, and kidneys and cause life-threatening infections. Sounds scary, but there’s a simple solution - good dental care. Now through February 29, 2008, VCA Airline Boulevard Animal Hospital is making it easier to give your pet needed dental care by offering 20% off the regular price of our dental package. Lab work, antibiotics, and extractions are at an additional cost. Our dental package includes: - Complete dental examination - Anesthesia - Cleaning and polishing More than 80% of pets three years and older have some degree of periodontal disease. Even if your pet shows no signs of trouble, he could be at risk. Early warning signs of periodontal disease include: bad breath, yellow/brown crust around the gum line, and bleeding gums. If not treated, this condition can progress to pawing at the mouth, changes in chewing or eating habits, tooth loss, subdued behavior and excessive drooling. Call us for more information! 
Flea season is NOT over, not by a long shot! We see our worst cases of flea infestation in the coldest months of the year because a lot of people believe that fleas go away after the first frost. The fact is that fleas may lay dormant in the coldest temperatures of the winter but there are plenty of days that it warms up plenty for them to spring back into action. Consider also that your home, especially your carpet, is the most ideal breeding ground for fleas. It’s always about 70 degrees inside and there’s plenty for them to do once they’ve been introduced into your environment. You see, fleas keep some pretty unsavory company and the things they carry around can be harmful to both your pet and you. Year round protection against fleas, ticks and heartworm disease is THE best prevention regardless of whether or not your pet goes outside.
